Background

Sport has been known to bring goodness to a man such as leadership, teamwork, a positive attitude and a sense of fairness, significant qualities for leaders of tomorrow. It plays an important role as an “ambassador of peace” for all nations in the world where we are frequently confronted by wars. Solidarity, teamwork, and cooperation leading to harmony can be built through sport partnership.

Sport competitions have locally been held for many times for Indonesian students in Japan. Further, broader competition that is not limited by areas becomes inevitable to strengthen the relationship for all Indonesian students in Japan. In order to realize that kind of competition, the Indonesian Students Association in Japan (PPI Jepang) will held its first competition for all Indonesian students in Japan. The name of this competition is PORMAS PPI JEPANG 2011.

This competition will match two sports; badminton and table tennis, since these two kinds of sports are well known for Indonesian students. PPI Jepang therefore is committed to the promotion and development of sport for the Indonesian students in Japan. This commitment derives from the fact that in a healthy body comes a healthy mind (mens sana in corepore sano).

We sincerely hope that PORMAS PPI JEPANG 2011 will be a major competition for Indonesian students from representative of each coordinating areas (KORDA) in Japan, who love badminton and table tennis as well as enjoying the spirit of sportsmanship. This event also will be announced to all Indonesian students in all of area in Japan using e-mail, mailing list, forum, and bulletin. With all the generous support of PPI Jepang members, we are confident that PORMAS-2010 will be a success and a memorable experience.
